In the following, we will only deal with China and Japan. Please take note that the Asian
continent as a whole is very diverse with regard to its cultures. What applies in China
or Japan does not necessarily hold for other Asian countries. Due to the various religious
minorities (Buddhists, Hindus, Moslems) there may be very different rituals within one
country, which should be taken into consideration (for example in India).
